ChekMe AI is an AI healthcare assistant that simplifies patient intake. Designed to reduce provider burnout, documentation burden, and administrative workload, ChekMe AI engages patients in personalized chat sessions during the check-in process to collect information about their condition and symptoms. The details gathered are then summarized into comprehensive session reports and shared with the patients’ healthcare providers.
We believe that transparency is key and this article outlines our data security practices from start to finish.
When a provider shares a session link via text or email, the patient's phone number or email address is temporarily held in memory for up to 24 hours. After the patient provides their name and completes the chat session, their name replaces the identifier (phone number or email address) with the same expiry window. This ensures that only a single, temporary patient identifier is used per session that is never saved in persistent storage. The identifier is permanently deleted upon expiry.
ChekMe AI does not require and ignores any personal information such as names, birthdates, and locations during the chat session. Personal identifiers that the patient may enter are permanently removed before the session is shared with their provider. A de-identification algorithm keeps the session anonymous.
Completed sessions are only accessible to authorized healthcare providers through their portal for a period of 7 days, after which they are removed from the application. They are also permanently removed from our databases (including backups) after an additional 7 days. We only retain de-identified and anonymized message content to improve our support and services. The content is completely stripped of any personally identifiable information, including PHI, user details, and health facility data.
This overall process ensures that PHI is not stored in our systems at rest. Our privacy-first philosophy enables us to provide the highest level of security and compliance while elevating the ChekMe AI experience for providers and patients.
